At noon in your own time zone, take two minutes and practice gratitude. There are no required words, religion, or belief. Give thanks for what matters to you.
As noon moves from one time zone to the next, the practice moves around the Earth. A continuing wave of gratitude, carried person to person.
The daily practice follows noon around the Earth. Four times each year, at the equinoxes and solstices, we come together for a longer shared practice.
For twenty minutes, we pause together: ten minutes before the appointed moment and ten minutes after.
The practice remains simple. Give thanks. There are no required words, no required belief, and no single way to participate.
Wherever we are, for those twenty minutes, we choose gratitude together.
Gratitude begins with recognizing what is already here.
Life. Love. Another person. Another day. The Earth beneath us and the people with whom we share it.
We do not have to agree about religion, politics, science, or what lies beyond this life to be grateful. Gratitude asks for no agreement. It simply asks us to recognize something worth being thankful for.
For two minutes, we turn our attention toward what we value instead of what divides us.
One person doing that is a moment of gratitude. Millions doing it, each at noon wherever they are, becomes something we share.
That is the beginning of Operation HOPE.
Wherever you are, when noon arrives, take two minutes for gratitude.
There are no required words. Give thanks for life, love, peace, or whatever matters to you.
When your two minutes are over, simply continue. Somewhere to the west, noon is approaching.
Time zone by time zone, people carry the practice around the Earth.
At each equinox and solstice, we gather for twenty minutes. Ten minutes before the appointed moment and ten minutes after, people around the world pause in gratitude together.
Different people. Different beliefs. Different lives. For a few moments, one shared act of gratitude.
